Are you a football mom in need of a playful idea to feed little Johnny's team after the big game? Or maybe you're hosting an afternoon book club over lunch. Whatever the occasion sandwiches are always a safe bet but why not allow guests to have a little fun in the process and save you some time. Setting up a build-your-own sandwich bar provides guests with a personalized lunch experience and gives you a pass on cooking.

Presentation: Place your sandwich ingredients on various platters and in bowls. On a long table set out your options. You can place the platters in the back on risers of various heights to create an eye pleasing display. Do this by hiding upside down containers or bowls under your tablecloth. Stack your plates and napkins at the beginning of your buffet. Follow with your breads, then meats, veggies and finish with your condiments. If you own a sandwich press, place it at the far end of the table allowing guests to grill as they please or man the press if younger children are involved.

Serve with: Serve sandwiches on their own or with various salads or potato chips.

You will want to provide the following:

  • 2 – 3 choices of bread, buns or wraps
  • 2 – 3 choices of Meat
  • 2 – 3 choices of Cheese
  • Various Greens
  • Sliced tomatoes and other fresh veggies like cucumbers and peppers
  • Pickles and olives
  • 3 – 4 choices of sauces and condiments

Set all items out minutes before serving to avoid sweaty cheese and crusted condiments, yuck!
